The Office of Equal Opportunity and Title IX also provides annual training to students, faculty, and staff to increase awareness and to help prevent sexual violence on campus. Annual training is also provided to all advocates, Title IX investigators, hearing officers, panelists, and appeals officers to ensure that the investigation and adjudication process protects the safety of victims and promotes ability.
Title IX is a comprehensive federal law that prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in any federally funded education program or activity. Title IX promotes equity in academic and athletics programs, preventing hostile environments on the basis of sex, sexual misconduct, and preventing discrimination against pregnant and parenting students.
Santa Clara University is committed to providing an environment free from discrimination based on sex and provides a of resources and services to assist students, faculty and staff in addressing issues involving sex discrimination. Under Title IX, discrimination on the basis of sex can include sexual harassment or forms of sexual violence, such as rape, sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence, sexual exploitation, and stalking also prohibited by University Policy.
